between control and emptiness. He who climbs waterfalls
of ice knows the metallic sound of the screw
that enters the ice, the resistance that grows
lap after lap, the certainty that that protection
will hold. A gesture repeated dozens of times along the way,
each one charged with absolute concentration.

The Ice Screws Necklace immortalizes that
solid bronze tension: three ice screws
with their respective carabiners, created with the technique
of lost wax casting and silver plated
— like a rack ready to attach a waterfall,
hanging from the neck instead of the harness.

Each piece is created by Andrea Sampaoli with the
lost wax casting technique in the heart
of the Euganean Hills, in Italy.
